INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2026

The Asian American Alliance, in partnership with the Indiana Commission for Women, hosted the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration on March 6, 2026, at the Indiana Government Center South Auditorium in Indianapolis. Chaired by Rupal Thanawala, the event brought together community leaders, professionals, and advocates to celebrate the power, achievements, and resilience of women while fostering meaningful dialogue and networking opportunities. Organized around four themes—Entrepreneurship, Education, Empowerment, and Excellence—the program featured inspiring speakers, engaging discussions, and opportunities for attendees to connect with changemakers committed to advancing women’s leadership and impact.

The event featured keynote remarks from Indiana First Lady Maureen Braun, who shared her entrepreneurial journey from childhood passion to founding the successful home décor business Finishing Touches. Rupal Thanawala delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping opportunities and challenges for women in the workforce, while a distinguished panel moderated by Ashley Moore of Republic Airways explored investing in women’s advancement across leadership, philanthropy, finance, and the arts. The program also included a special conversation moderated by Lesley Weidenbener of the Indianapolis Business Journal with Indiana Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner, who discussed her efforts to transform K–12 education in Indiana and prepare students for success beyond high school. Together, these sessions highlighted the ongoing progress and future possibilities for women across multiple sectors of society.
