On July 24th, Asian American Alliance Inc. hosted another inspiring installment of its Seat at the Table series, featuring a candid conversation with Mayor Brandon Sakbun of Terre Haute. The evening began with a vibrant networking reception, bringing together community members, professionals, and emerging leaders to foster meaningful connections.
The moderated session that followed offered attendees a rare opportunity to hear directly from Mayor Sakbun as he shared his compelling journey—from growing up in Terre Haute to becoming the city’s youngest mayor in history. A proud graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School, Mayor Sakbun spoke about his academic and military achievements, including his degrees in finance and public affairs from Indiana University and his distinguished service as a Captain in the U.S. Army Rangers.
Throughout the evening, Mayor Sakbun reflected on the values and experiences that shaped his leadership—his commitment to service, his deep roots in the community, and his vision for Terre Haute’s growth and revitalization. Attendees left inspired by his authenticity, humility, and unwavering dedication to public service.
